Last night I saw the premier of the film Spectrum Hunter by Jon Clark (who you may remember for his music video for LA Vampires/Matrix Metals “So Unreal” http://vimeo.com/19406947 ) Spectrum Hunter is the first film I’ve seen that truly speaks to me about what it was like being a kid in the late 80s/early 90s. While many artists are playing with the aesthetics of this time period, Jon Clark has tapped into something deeper. He has communicated the ineffable feeling of being this age and feeling like there is a greater purpose to playing video games, watching trashy action movies, collecting ridiculous trinkets, and visiting arcades.
