I had the immense pleasure of meeting Yuri Landman while in Amsterdam a couple years ago. Yuri is the inventor of many amazing sci-fi music instruments. Instruments that have been used by bands such as HEALTH, Liars, Sonic Youth, Jad Fair, Sebadoh, and many more. On Sun March 25th, Yuri will be at the Smell in Los Angeles, teaching a workshop on how to make his most popular instrument, The Home Swinger. At this workshop, all materials will be provided to make your own Home Swinger to keep. Then, on the next day, all the participants can perform in an orchestra with Yuri and a secret star studded band (also at the Smell). While the cost of the workshop may seem high for a “Smell event” (it is $135 to participate), don’t forget that you go home with a very unique musical instrument for about the same price as a crappy guitar.  If you would like to take part, please email Yuri at drowningman (a) casema.nl  … reservations end on Feb 25th, so you must act fast!
